Emsella

Emsella for urinary incontinence and prolapse

Emsella is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment for stress urinary incontinence and urge incontinence for both women and men. The treatment is delivered by comfortably sitting in an ergonomic chair fully clothed, where electromagnetic technology penetrates the targeted tissues of the pelvic floor and stimulates the muscles, building up muscle strength and restoring the support for the pelvic organs. In doing so, the pelvic floor muscles are strengthened and improved dramatically, and for women the vaginal walls are tightened. Urinary and urge incontinence is decreased and sexual satisfaction is increased.

This technology utilises High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM®) technology to cause deep pelvic floor muscle stimulation and restoration of neuromuscular control. The key effectiveness is based on focused electromagnetic energy, in-depth penetration and stimulation of the entire pelvic floor area. A single session brings thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions, which are extremely important in muscle re-education of incontinent patients. In fact, EMSella is so powerful that during one short 28-minute treatment, 11,200 contractions are provoked, which is the equivalent to performing 11,200 pelvic floor exercises! This device which is the first of its kind, is used for treating urinary incontinence and vaginal laxity in women, and urinary incontinence in men.

The high-intensity electromagnetic field is similar to an MRI and activates motor nerves in the pelvic floor. While this type of treatment is selective and non-invasive, it offers deep penetration into the targeted tissues of the pelvic floor and stimulates the muscles. In as few as 3 weeks, patients strongly agree their incidence of stress urinary incontinence was improved by 95%!

Currently its main use is for the treatment of urinary incontinence. Many women experience a condition called Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). SUI occurs when the bladder leaks urine during physical activity or exertion. It may happen when coughing, laughing, jumping, sneezing or exercising. SUI is most commonly caused by vaginal childbirth and hormonal changes due to age. It can also occur in men, especially after prostate surgery, or due to diabetes and with increasing age.

The results are both instantaneous and on-going. Due to this therapy being non-invasive and non-surgical, there is no recovery or downtime needed. You can come in, get your treatment, and return to your normal daily activities.
